Wound up and ready to go

I have been keeping a Google Docs document of all the watch stuff I am interested in. This morning, my wife Corinne mentioned that she might start a blog about something of interest to her (no spoilers here), and it got me thinking that I could use a blog for my watch watching too. I'll post a link to her blog once it's up and running.

But anyway, back to me.... I have been a wrist watch fanatic for a few years now. It started several years ago with the purchase of my first "real" watch, a Tag Heuer Formula 1. It was a cool watch, but I really didn't know much about fine timepieces at the time. Moreover, I hadn't fallen in love with automatic movements. So... after about a year with the Tag, I sold it and moved up to my first serious watch, the Breitling Superocean (black face, rubber dive strap, and the ETA automatic movement). It had all the bells and whistles like the double coated anti-reflective sapphire crystal, helium release valve, tough ass case and unidirectional bezel. This watch was the bomb. I wore it proudly for a year or two, until tough financial times forced me to sell it to another watch lover on Craigslist. At least it went to a good home.
